In the rugged landscapes of Gilgit Baltistan, natural disasters like floods can strike with devastating force, upending lives and communities overnight. The recent floods in Ghizer Valley in July and August 2025 were no exception, leaving families without homes, food, or hope. At Hunza Foodways, we believe in the power of community and collective action to rebuild and restore. That’s why we launched a dedicated donation drive to support the flood victims, turning compassion into tangible aid. Today, we’re proud to share the story of this initiative and the incredible impact it has made.
Donation Drive
As news of the floods spread, our team at Hunza Foodways sprang into action. We created a streamlined donation platform to rally support from across Pakistan and beyond. The drive, hosted on this website, allowed individuals and organizations to contribute easily and securely. Our goal was simple: to provide immediate relief in the form of essential supplies to those hardest hit.
What truly inspired us was the overwhelming response from donors. From everyday citizens to corporate supporters, contributions poured in, demonstrating the unbreakable spirit of solidarity in times of crisis.
A special shoutout goes to students from NUST Islamabad, whose enthusiasm and dedication amplified our efforts. These young changemakers organized campus-wide campaigns, spreading awareness and encouraging peers to join the cause. Their involvement not only boosted donations but also highlighted the role of youth in humanitarian efforts.
Doubling the Impact
True to our commitment at Hunza Foodways, we pledged to match every donation dollar-for-dollar. This meant that for every rupee contributed by our generous donors, we added an equal amount from our own resources. This matching strategy effectively doubled the funds available, maximizing the reach and effectiveness of the relief efforts. It’s a promise rooted in our core values: transparency, accountability, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Thanks to this approach, we were able to raise a substantial sum that far exceeded our initial expectations. The funds were meticulously managed to ensure they directly benefited those in need, with no administrative overheads detracting from the cause.
On-the-Ground Distribution
With the funds secured, the next step was distribution. We collaborated closely with the Young Activists Movement (YAM), a grassroots organization known for its hands-on work in disaster-prone areas. Together, we identified three key flood-affected sites in Ghizer Valley where the need was most acute.
The aid was delivered in the form of comprehensive ration packages, including non-perishable food items, clean water supplies, hygiene kits, and other essentials to sustain families through the recovery period. Our teams worked tirelessly alongside YAM volunteers to ensure fair and efficient distribution, reaching hundreds of families across the sites. Witnessing the gratitude and relief on the faces of recipients was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
This partnership with YAM was instrumental. Their local knowledge and community ties allowed us to navigate logistical challenges in remote areas, ensuring that aid reached even the most isolated villages. It’s collaborations like these that turn individual efforts into widespread transformation.
Looking Ahead: A Call to Continued Support
The floods in Ghizer Valley may have receded, but the road to recovery is long. At Hunza Foodways, we’re committed to ongoing support for the region, exploring sustainable initiatives like community rebuilding programs and disaster preparedness workshops. The success of this donation drive is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together.
