Description
Genuine manuka honey doesn’t grow in Pakistan, or anywhere outside New Zealand and parts of Australia, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise.
What this jar is instead is a manuka like honey blend of three of our darkest, most robust honeys, sidr, buckwheat, and dark forest, put together specifically because their combined flavor and texture land in the same territory manuka is known for: thick, rich, slightly caramelized, with none of the light floral sweetness of a table honey.
That comparison isn’t just marketing shorthand. Sidr honey on its own is often described as the closest thing to manuka in daily use, sharing a similarly thick, caramel-like sweetness and dark color while actually being easier to eat by the spoon or stir into tea, a comparison.
Buckwheat and dark forest honey each bring their own version of that same robust, earthy, less-sweet character that lighter clover-style honeys don’t have, which is why blending the three gets closer to manuka’s profile than any single Hunza honey would on its own.
What is Manuka Like Honey
This is a taste and texture alternative, not a medical equivalent. Manuka’s specific reputation for wound care and antibacterial strength comes from methylglyoxal, a compound present at a measured, certified concentration (its UMF or MGO rating) that genuine manuka honey is lab-tested for. This blend hasn’t been tested for that compound and doesn’t carry any such rating, so we’re not claiming it does what a certified manuka jar does. What it does carry is what raw honey carries generally: antioxidants that support the immune system, and a traditional role in soothing a sore throat or easing a cough, the same benefits our sidr, buckwheat, and forest honey pages each cover on their own. If wound care or a specific antibacterial strength is what you’re after, genuine manuka with a stated UMF or MGO rating is the honest answer, not this blend, and not anything sold as manuka without that certification.
Manuka Like Honey Contains:
- Sidr honey: the closest single honey to manuka in richness and color, thick and warmly spiced
- Buckwheat honey: the boldest, most antioxidant-dense honey in our range, malty rather than sweet
- Dark forest honey: honeydew-based and woodsy, adding depth without extra sweetness
Each is harvested separately as its own single-source honey before being blended, so the character of the blend can shift slightly season to season depending on how each individual harvest turned out, the same way any of our single-variety honeys do.
How to use it
- A spoonful on its own, the way you’d take a rich, occasional treat rather than an everyday sweetener
- Stirred into strong tea, where its depth holds up rather than disappearing
- Drizzled over aged cheese, walnuts, or dates, a pairing that suits its thick, caramel-like character
- Used sparingly in dark baking, gingerbread or spiced cookies, where a light honey would get lost
Why make this instead of importing the real thing
Genuine manuka has to be shipped from New Zealand, tested and certified for its UMF or MGO rating, and priced accordingly, often well beyond what most honey buyers in Pakistan are looking to spend regularly. This blend exists for the people who want that dark, rich, almost medicinal honey experience without paying import prices for it, made honestly from three of our own single-source harvests rather than sold under a name it doesn’t belong to. If your priority is the certified antibacterial strength specifically, this isn’t a substitute for that. If it’s the taste, texture, and the ritual of a rich spoonful in your tea, this gets you there from Rahimabad Valley instead of the other side of the world.
