We would like to thank USAID and NPO Pakistan for organizing the Made In Gilgit project. This event marked the beginning of our journey to promote Gilgit Baltistan’s products to the urban market.
The objectives of the project are as under:
To provide livelihood opportunities to 35 craft’s persons belonging to District Gilgit in a 05 month period through:
- 5 days training of craft’s persons on sales, customer relationship management, marketing, and e-marketing at Gilgit. As a result, we saw the importance of eCommerce in Gilgit Baltistan.
- Development of the “Made in Gilgit” website. Therefore we saw an increase in the sales of traditional products outside the GB region.
- Young entrepreneur exposure visits to the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Islamabad and markets in Islamabad, hence creating linkage development opportunities with other sellers in cities.
Gilgit Baltistan Chamber of Commerce announced this event on 11 January 2017. Due to a limited number of seats, the competition was stiff. Among the lucky entrepreneurs, GS Hunza Dry Fruits was also selected for the event. Our products were selected to be featured as one of the top products at the expo.
The 3-day exhibition was held at Al-Hamra Art Council Lahore from 3 May 2017 to 5 May 2017.
The response we received from the people of Lahore was thrilling. Customers loved our products and gave us valid comments to improve our products. Walnut Kelawo, Dried Apricot, and Green Tea were among the most loved products. After the exhibition finished we received several orders on the phone and our customers requested an online portal so they easily shop Hunza Dry Fruits. On March 2020 we launched www.gshunzadryfruits.com
