What organic means?

Food can be labeled organic if it is free of artificial additives, including artificial colors, pesticides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Your food preferences have a lasting effect on your family and shape their eating habits. Providing your family with organic food reduces your risk of exposure to pesticides and antibiotics and promotes the development of long-lasting, good eating habits.

The rules that govern the use of the USDA organic seal — or even the word organic — are essentially the same for all foods. “

Organic comes with a long list of criteria and stringent verification rules farmers and food processors have to meet.”

-Charlotte Vallaeys, senior food, and nutrition policy analyst.

Many people believe that organic is healthier for the environment and animals.

But not every rule applies to every type of food. Kelawo is prepared with nuts and fruits which are grown organically in different valleys of Hunza and Gilgit Baltistan. And most importantly, without GMOs or synthetic pesticides.

In processed foods, the processing itself has to comply with organic rules. Which ban the use of most synthetic processing aids or artificial ingredients, such as artificial colors.

At Hunza Foodways, we also produce organic oils in Pakistan. You may check our picks for the top 5 best hair oil in Pakistan.

What it doesn’t mean?

Just because a fruit is organic doesn’t mean it’s necessarily more nutritious than conventional fruits and vegetables.

Eating all-natural dried fruits and nuts may reduce your exposure to toxins, pesticide residues, and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. However, the levels of toxins in regular dried fruits are also well below the safety limits. [1]

Are these nuts and dried fruits more nutritious?

Just because a product is without additives doesn’t mean it is nutrient-dense. Healthline advises that when deciding what to eat, it may be more beneficial to shop based on your dietary needs. And the vitamins and minerals contained in the nut, rather than based on organic versus conventional.

What other organic products do we have?
